For this week's look back on Everett's mayors, we meet our city's first female mayor, Joyce M. Ebert. Not only was she Everett's first woman mayor (appointed), but she was also the first Everett mayor born in Washington. Ebert was born in 1922, and was raised in Stanwood. She worked as a Naval chauffeur during World War II (1941-1945). Ebert would eventually find herself in city politics, and was the first woman elected to Everett City Council in 1973, beating incumbent Bill Dobler. She served i
