Birch bark is now ready in the Minneapolis area. To me the sound of birch bark “popping” is Grade A asmr, someone should make a page dedicated to that haha. All you need to harvest is tobacco, a knife, and 1 hand. When ready, the bark should just pop right off. If done properly and at the right time of year the removal of bark will not kill tree it. The tree will grow another layer of bark we call “scar bark”. People even used to make traditional crafts with scar bark but no so much anymore #foo
