It's one of the most recognisable melodies ever written 🎵 The slow movement from Antonín Dvořák Ninth Symphony is full of pathos and longing. Made ever more famous by a 1973 bread advert, the symphony is influenced by African American spirituals, which the Czech composer (then working in New York) saw as the ‘the folk songs of America’.
