We're taking one more close look at our Great Blue Heron fishing. Great Blue Heron have specialized vertebrae that allow the neck to be held in a tight "S" shape, which is both aerodynamic for flight and used for hunting. Its coiled neck acts like a spring, storing energy that is released in a sudden, powerful thrust forward. This allows the heron to strike its prey with extreme speed and force, as we see here.
