Joachim Pease: A Cape Verdean whaler, US Navy Sailor, Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Joachim Pease lived a life on the sea. Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, he joined a Whaling Ship out of New Bedford, and then became a Civil War Hero. He was a vital part of the USS Kearsarge, and sunk the CSS Alabama.
