A common mistake on cable lateral raises that’s hindering your side delt gains is being in line with the cable tower which usually makes it hard to not shrug and bring in your traps in the movement. Instead, take a couple steps forward and raise in your scapular plane. Remember to push outward rather than upwards to minimize shrugging. Basically, if you got anything out of what I said, shrugging is terrible on lateral raises if your goal is grow your side delts #fyp #fitness #gym #bodybuilding

The unilateral cable lateral raise and cable behind the back lateral raise are great exercises for your side delts with their unique set of advantages Performing them unilaterally allows for a greater focus and loading of the movement however the behind-the-back variant is more efficient being bilateral. In more recent times, I’ve changed my mind on behind the back cable lateral raise. Here’s how to make sure you’re doing it in the best way possible to maximize side delt gains: 1) take a step forward from the cables 2) raise in your scapular plane slightly in front of you as opposed to directly out to the side 3) allow your side delts to get an even better stretch by letting your arm cross your body from behind
