Magh Bihu is the Assamese celebration of Sankranti which marks the end of the harvest season. Also known as Bhogali Bihu, it is a festival of abundance and enjoyment. The word Bhogali means the handiness of rich food and it is a festival of seasonal food as well. The night before the day of Magh Bihu is called Uruka and a lot of community feasts and merry-making take place on the night. The next morning, a bonfire ritual takes place in the paddy fields followed by full-on celebrations and feasts
