The Falabella is one of the smallest horse breeds in the world, originating in Argentina during the mid-19th century. Developed by the Falabella family, these miniature horses were selectively bred from small horses of Criollo stock, along with other bloodlines such as Shetland Ponies and Thoroughbreds.
