NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope lifted off on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center on 30 August 2026, beginning a three-month cruise to the L2 point a million miles from Earth. It carries a 300-megapixel infrared camera that sees Hubble-sharp images across a patch of sky 100 times wider, letting it survey about a thousand times faster. Over five years it will hunt dark energy, map billions of galaxies and find tens of thousands of new planets.
