I now have an ea account and the same PSN account, but I can’t link them because ea says it’s already linked to an account, but the email address for the connected account is EA’s own deleted account redirect address.

If you do not see your PSN ID, or a different PSN ID is listed, then your PSN ID will be linked to a different EA account. It sounds like you had a PSN Account that was tied to an EA account, you unlinked that account which would result in losing your items, progress, etc as they are saved on an EA account level. You now have the PSN linked to a new EA account and your account has gone through the Cross Progression process but does not have your items, progress, etc.
