The Senate voted 87-9 to pass a military construction spending bill with $20 million in funding for infrastructure at Selfridge Air National Guard Base

The Senate passed more than $180 billion in funding for veterans programs, new military facilities, the Agriculture Department and the Food and Drug Administration, as lawmakers moved to reassert their control over federal spending.

Overwhelming bipartisan passage of $488 billion in federal funding masked a bigger fight ahead over funding the rest of the government before a Sept. 30 shutdown deadline.
