Yamamoto signed his contract with the Dodgers on Dec. 27, 2023, after starring in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball for the Orix Buffaloes. Shohei Ohtani had signed his $700 million deal with the Dodgers just a couple weeks earlier. Yamamoto decided to come aboard, too. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is from Bizen, Okayama in Japan.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto has often shared his admiration of Clayton Kershaw, but it’s clear he doesn’t see him as just a mentor. He sees him as a benchmark by which should measure himself.

He now has two. And they’ve come in his last two outings, nonetheless.
