Circle, the company behind the $61 billion stablecoin USDC, made a roaring debut on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday, becoming the first stablecoin issuer to go public and making CEO and cofounder Jeremy Allaire a billionaire.

Circle Internet Group Inc., a prominent player in the stablecoin arena, successfully navigated its initial public offering (IPO), raising nearly $1.1 billion in an upsized deal that saw shares priced above the initially marketed range.

Major investors signaled confidence in the offering. ARK Invest showed interest in purchasing up to $150m in shares, while BlackRock is expected to acquire roughly 10% of the IPO allocation. BlackRock also manages the Circle Reserve Fund, a government money market fund holding 90% of USDC’s reserves, valued at $53.3b as of this week.
