The Detroit Red Wings selected goaltender Michal Pradel Saturday in the third round (No. 75) of the NHL entry draft. Pradel (6-4, 199) played in 14 games for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL last season, going 9-4-0 with a 2.41 goals-against average and .899 save percentage.

He’s coming off a season in which he posted a .911 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average but played in just 29 games due to upper-body and lower-body injuries.

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired veteran goaltender John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks. Detroit sent backup goalie Petr Mrazek, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-rounder to Anaheim for a player whose name has been in trade rumors for several years.
