At least one person has been killed after a “mini-tornado” ripped through the northern suburbs of Paris. The extreme winds began just before 6pm local time on Monday and affected about a dozen towns in the Val-d’Oise region. Philippe Court, the head of the prefecture, declared the “violent, sudden windy episode” as a “mini-tornado”.
The most rare and extreme form of tornado struck eastern North Dakota in June, but experts just determined how strong it really was.

A population of over 13 million people in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and Illinois could see the most severe weather later in the day, the Storm Prediction Center said. JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down Sunday in Jessamine County. NWS officials conducted the damage survey at an R.J. Corman Railroad building off U.S. 27. The National Weather Service said the tornado started as a “cold air funnel” that briefly touched the ground.
