The San Diego Padres are acquiring closer Mason Miller and starting pitcher JP Sears from the A’s, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. The A’s will reportedly receive shortstop Leodalis De Vries, baseball’s No. 3 overall prospect.

Earlier Thursday, the Padres acquired Athletics star closer Mason Miller and the Mariners completed a deal with the Diamondbacks for All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez, who is third in the National League with 36 homers and first with 87 RBI.

At Alabama from 2020-23, Jarvis was a four-year starter at shortstop for the Crimson Tide who slashed a combined .262/.373/.366 across 196 career games. Jarvis also had 10 home runs, 75 RBI, and 25 stolen bases during his time at Alabama, and was also a 2023 SEC All-Defensive selection.
