Rangers' Josh Smith: Likely to avoid IL
Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Smith felt a "hamstring thing" during Sunday's game against the White Sox. The report indicates Smith should return to the lineup this weekend at the latest. For Tuesday's game against the Royals, Alejandro Osuna filled in at designated hitter, while Evan Carter replaced Smith as the leadoff batter.
Smith (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. Smith will miss a second straight start due to a hamstring issue and is not expected to play Thursday, either.
