While the Yankees might have hoped for another positive step from the shortstop, he has seemed to take a step back in virtually every facet of the game.

NEW YORK — The reeling Yankees need Anthony Volpe to break out and live up to his lofty expectations, but the shortstop is busy having a disappointing third summer in pinstripes. With his 0-for-3 in Friday’s 6-5 loss to the Mets at Citi Field, the shortstop is now hitting .121 (8-for-66) in his last 19 games with 18 strikeouts.
