Granted, this new AirPod ability will still heavily rely on the Translate app; thus, you’ll still have to have your iPhone in hand. In this way, it’s more of an extension of your iPhone’s live-translation feature rather than a new AirPod feature … but it’s still cool nonetheless.

Apple plans to add a live translation to its AirPods via an iOS 19 update coming later this year. As Bloomberg reports, your iPhone would listen to someone speaking in another language and relay the translation to you via your AirPods.

AirPods are arguably Apple's most popular post-iPhone product, and it sounds like the company has plans to make them even more essential. Bloomberg reports that Apple is adding a live-translate feature to AirPods later this year as part of an upcoming software update.
