KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Western Michigan football team came from behind to down rival Central Michigan 24-21 in front of the largest crowd, 29,299, at Stafford-Smith Field at Waldo Stadium since 2015, reclaiming the Victory Cannon trophy on Saturday evening. With the win, WMU also retains the Michigan MAC Trophy.
Six minutes into the third, T.J. Hughes scored another power play goal to put the Wolverines up 5-2. Notre Dame’s Danny Nelson added a goal in the game’s closing minutes to make it 5-3, and Michigan started the weekend with a convincing win.
