Sony has announced the release on Thursday of a software update to the PlayStation 3 to upscale videos to 1080p resolution and to offer more remote play capabilities for PSP users.

Remote Play allows you to access your PS3 remotely on your PSP via a local connection or an internet connection anywhere in the world.

It appears that todays new PSP and PS3 firmware updates include a “secret” Remote Play enhancement that allows users to play all PS1 downloadable titles and discs on the PSP.

The option allows PSP users to stream games from a PSOne disc played on a PS3 via the Remote Play function, as long as both machines have access to a wi-fi internet connection.

According to this, the PS3 version os Bionic Commando: Rearmed will play on PSPs via the machine's Remote Play feature.
