Ukraine confirms strike on Russia’s Ryazan oil refinery, major blaze reported
A series of explosions were reported overnight on Oct. 23 in the Russian city of Ryazan, with local residents suggesting a drone strike may have targeted the Ryazan Oil Refinery, one of Russia’s key fuel infrastructure facilities.
The 'massive' attack targeted a plant in the city of Bryansk that produces components used in Russian ammunition.
Ukraine has never used American weapons to strike distant targets on Russian territory. Various long-range weapons have been used in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and in the east of the country.
Russian drone and missile strikes caused blackouts across large swaths of Ukraine, damaged residential buildings and injured at least 20 people in Kyiv, authorities said.
