Many taxpayers could see even more money in their pockets in coming years under a sweeping tax and spending cuts package that House Republicans hope to finalize before Memorial Day.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) also worked past midnight trying to resolve issues with President Trump's tax plan.

The House Ways and Means Committee voted 26-19 to approve the tax part of the legislation after a marathon markup meeting that lasted more than 17 hours.
