By Laurie Chen, Liz Lee and Xiuhao Chen BEIJING (Reuters) -EU-China trade ties have hit a "clear inflection point," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday in Beijing, capping a tense summit with top Chinese leaders dominated by concerns on commerce and the Ukraine war.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that she is to meet with US President Donald Trump on Sunday in Scotland. The meeting would come days ahead of August 1, when Trump said we would impose tariffs of 30% on imports from the European Union for alleged trade imbalances.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Chinese leader Xi Jinping that the bloc’s ties with his country “have reached an inflection point,” illustrating what’s at stake in their summit shadowed by tensions spanning trade to the war in Ukraine.
