The Vatican subsequently released Francis’ testament, dated June 29, 2022, confirming that he wished to be buried in the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. “I have always entrusted my life and my priestly and episcopal ministry to the Mother of Our Lord, Mary Most Holy," he said, explaining his decision.
