WWE Universe, it’s been quite a ride, but all good things must come to an end. In just a little over a month, the “Greatest of All-Time” will hang up his wrestling gear at next month’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th.
The top two prizes were on the line when WWE returned to NBC network television for Saturday Night's Main Event, a primetime special headlined by Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre and CM Punk squaring off with Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
John Cena has announced that a tournament will take place to determine his final opponent at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13th, in his final match in pro wrestling. Cena appeared in a segment on the same special show tonight (November 1st) to break the news.
Cena has just four dates left on his 2025 schedule: Nov. 10 on "WWE Raw" in Boston, Nov. 17 on "WWE Raw" in New York, Nov. 29 on Survivor Series: WarGames in San Diego, and Dec. 13 for his retirement match against the tournament winner on Saturday Night's Main Event in Washington D.C.

The move to make WWE Saturday Night's Main Event exclusive to Peacock instead of it also airing on NBC resulted in the strongest installment yet since the concept was revived a year ago—despite still feeling like a glorified episode of Raw or SmackDown at best.
Earlier this month, WWE revealed a number of dates for both 2025 and early 2026. The schedule originally called for Barclays Center in Brooklyn to host the January 2 episode of WWE SmackDown. Furthermore, the KeyBank Center in Buffalo was set to host the January 5 episode of WWE Raw.
