Nix needs one passing touchdown to tie quarterback Carson Palmer for the 10th-most passing touchdowns by a player in his first 26 career games. Nix is coming off five furious quarters of play, but the Texans present a much stiffer challenge defensively than the previous two opponents.
In the Houston Texans’ first two seasons under DeMeco Ryans, the end result has essentially been the same outcome. The team found its way to a 10-7 record, and an AFC South title. In 2023, they clinched the division in the final week of the season, and in 2024, they clinched it with three weeks to go.
The Texans have won three of their last four games heading into Week 9. How does the season align with the expectations at this point?
With a start on Sunday against the Broncos, tackle Tytus Howard would pass Texans legend J.J. Watt (84) for the fifth-most consecutive starts in franchise history. Howard has started in all 84 career games he has appeared in, and is preparing to fill into his typical role at right tackle once again vs. Denver.

That stems from injured linemen, which has minimized the rushing attack and put more pressure on quarterback C.J. Stroud. He’s also regressed a bit from his first two seasons and part of that can be attributed to a new offensive coordinator.
C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans must overcome yet another obstacle as they take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.
And although the Texans’ record is 3-4, they are playing at home after a good win over the Niners. So as this week’s ultimate fan, TheGueroLoco, reminds us in his fabulous UFG — the Texans shouldn’t be taken lightly, but the Broncos have the personnel to win this.
