New Jersey is now the ninth state to legalize balcony solar, as dozens more consider bills.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed the Garden State Balcony Solar Act, which removes key barriers for renters who want to use portable solar energy.

Under the new law, landlords and local governments can no longer block residents and tenants from installing plug-in solar panels.
