Rivian is pushing out a major software update starting today. Second-generation R1S and R1T vehicles will get a hands-free driving feature that works on some highways, though it still requires supervision.

Rivian also announced a new Rally drive mode for dual-motor vehicles. The mode is available when Off-Road Mode is selected and “delivers heightened throttle response and crisper steering on almost any terrain, including ice, mud, dirt, or asphalt,” the company says.

Electric vehicle company Rivian is rolling out new software today. The lead feature is Enhanced Highway Assist, which controls steering, acceleration, and braking on compatible highways. It relies on an infrared camera in the rearview mirror to ensure that the driver is still paying attention to the road,

Enhanced Highway Assist is Level 2 autonomous tech that works on 135,000 miles of highway, with plans to expand off-highway over the next year.
