The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $748 million for the Aug. 3 drawing, just $10.7 million shy of becoming one of the 10 largest Powerball jackpots ever.

More than 160,000 people in California won Powerball prizes.

A lottery ticket sold at a market in Reedley, California, narrowly missed a $707 million Powerball jackpot but won $809,204 after matching five of the six required numbers in the August 1 drawing.
