Lego has announced a new addition to its Mario Kart collection that first debuted last August. But don’t expect Lego’s latest Super Mario set to fit in with the rest of the racers. At 12.5 inches long and 8.5 inches tall, this set, featuring Mario in his standard racing kart from the game, is Lego’s largest Mario Kart build to date.

LEGO will release a model of Mario driving the Standard Kart from Mario Kart in late spring. Fans have been waiting for a set like this for a while, as there are other Mario Kart sets, but on a much smaller scale.

Despite that beefy price and naughty age rating, the set looks really rather strong. It's one of the more detailed takes on both Mario and his kart that we have seen from an official LEGO build so far, and the posable limbs and stand seem to make for a pretty dynamic-looking display piece.
