The voter turnout for this year’s municipal election was nearly 9.7% of 271,845 registered voters. Several cities in Broward County had elections on Tuesday. In Deerfield Beach, residents picked a new mayor.

Todd Drosky will continue serving in the Deerfield Beach government under a new title: Mayor. On Tuesday, the District 4 Commissioner took 56% of the vote to defeat real estate investor Dan Herz, a fellow Republican, and secure the right to succeed term-limited Bill Ganz as the city’s top official.

Broward County’s municipal elections were marked with low turnout. Fewer than 10% of eligible voters cast ballots in crucial races in Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Sea Ranch Lakes.
