Two high-profile Republicans could be running against each other for a chunk of Orange County voters after Prop. 50 overwhelmingly passes.

Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park was closed until further notice after people reported two mountain lion sightings, one of which was captured on video and featured unusual behavior, officials said.

Star Fire initially started 7:58 a.m. Aug. 31 in Orange County, California. It has been burning on private land for 66 days. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

In recent months, Orange County has seen a growth in no party preference voters. But since October 2024, one party can boast a bigger jump in registration.

Michael Gates, a Justice Department official who questioned Orange County’s voting procedures, was selected to monitor voting there.
