Flooding and rough surf close roads, beaches in Jersey Shore counties
Flooded roads, pounding surf, and strong winds continue to grip the South Jersey coast Monday as the nor’easter keeps its hold on the region. Route 147 into North Wildwood is closed at Anglesea Drive,
In addition to the street flooding, the storm also brought rough surf to the shoreline, including at Ponquogue Beach, where some residents ventured out to witness the waves firsthand.
Jones Beach is largely flooded as waves from Hurricane Erin pummel Long Island. Waves up to 11 feet high — exacerbated by the storm surge and high tide — have put most of the popular South Shore spot underwater, with some areas flooded up to the boardwalk.
