Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese thanked the WNBA and her team for their support as an investigation into verbal abuse directed at the 23-year-old during Saturday's loss to the Indiana Fever.
Reese and Cardoso were already familiar with each other before arriving in the WNBA. Cardoso starred at South Carolina, where she earned Most Outstanding Player honors in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Her Gamecocks defeated Iowa in the national championship game.
Though Angel Reese scored 12 points and 17 rebounds for the Chicago Sky in the first game of her sophomore WNBA season last Saturday, it was not enough to win against the team's rival, the Indiana Fever. With a final score of 93-58, the Fever dominated and Indiana's victory margin matched the second-largest in franchise history.
On the heels of an undefeated preseason, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever continued their winning ways in their 2025 WNBA regular-season opener on Saturday, blowing out Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky 93-58 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese face off in the regular season opener as the Indiana Fever host the Chicago Sky.
