Thursday morning, Dow reported an adjusted per-share loss of 19 cents from sales of $10 billion. Wall Street was looking for a 31-cent loss from sales of $10.2 billion.

At the opening bell, 09:30 a.m. (EDT), the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 221.66 points, or 0.47%, to 46,956.27. The S&P 500 gained 43.88 points, or 0.66%, to 6,782.32, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 200.07 points, or 0.87%, to 23,141.87.

In an updated report, Dow Inc. (NYSE:DOW) clocked in a $0.19 loss per share, lower than the $0.30 as expected by analysts, on a net income of $124 million, a 48 percent drop from the $240 million in the same period last year.
Dow Inc.’s shares rose in premarket trading as improved volumes in the industrial unit helped reduce its loss from the previous quarter more than analysts expected.
Shares of Dow Inc. jumped 12.95% to $24.51 Thursday, on what proved to be an all-around favorable trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index rising 0.58% to 6,738.44 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.
And yet, for full-year fiscal 2025, Disney is forecasting 8% operating income growth from its experiences segment, double-digit percentage operating income growth from entertainment, entertainment direct-to-consumer (led by Disney+) up $1.3 billion in operating income, and adjusted earnings per share of $5.85 -- an 18% increase from fiscal 2024.
