Paramount Skydance has sold Argentine broadcaster Telefé to local business duo Gustavo Scaglione and José Luis Manzano. The deal was valued at around $100m by Buenos Aires-based newspaper La Nación, which broke the news. Telefe cost Paramount $345m when it was acquired by Paramount forerunner Viacom in 2016.
Paramount Skydance will lay off about 2,000 U.S. employees under David Ellison's new management regime starting the week of Oct. 27.
The Writers Guild of America, which represents screenwriters and newsroom staffers, said it will oppose a deal combining Paramount Skydance Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.
