Shreyas Iyer injury update October 28: BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia shares scan report
Shreyas Iyer, India's ODI vice captain, is recovering from a serious spleen injury sustained during the 3rd ODI against Australia. Iyer remains under medical supervision.
Speaking to the national daily, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that Dr Rizwan Khan, the Indian team doctor who remained in Sydney to assist Iyer, is fully focused on his treatment. He added that Iyer has been admitted to one of the best hospitals in Sydney.
Although Iyer’s removal from ICU is an encouraging sign, full recovery from a spleen-related injury can take several weeks. For now, both medical experts and the Indian camp are relieved that the worst appears to have passed, but the next phase of his rehabilitation will determine when he can safely return to the field.
