Trade did not feature at all in recent conversations between senior US and Indian officials regarding the India-Pakistan crisis, according to individuals familiar with the matter, countering US President Donald Trump's assertion that he used trade to prevent a conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations.

The statement comes days after the US President told media that he used trade to pull back both nuclear-armed neighbours from brink of the war.
