Michigan State senior guard Jaden Akins received two All-Big Ten awards on Tuesday -- Third Team and All-Defensive Team. Akins had to step into a new role this season, one that carried a lot of responsibility with him being the longest-tenured Spartan.

After a season where Michigan State basketball gave up the third fewest points per game in the Big Ten, one Spartan was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team: Jaden Akins. While Akins didn't end up having the shooting season many hoped for,

Michigan State senior guard Jaden Akins played his final game at the Breslin Center on Sunday. And it ended in triumphant fashion.

The Michigan State Spartans opened the first half of their final regular season game against the Michigan Wolverines on fire. By the time the opening half was over, they had a 50-28 lead and the Breslin Center was ready to explode for senior day.

To go along with his all-freshman team honors, Jase Richardson was named as a third team all Big Ten selection. Jaden Akins was also named to the team, going along with his all-defensive team selection. Richardson was named unanimously, while Akins was selected by the coaches.

Michigan State senior guard Jaden Akins is the longest-tenured player on the Spartans' roster, and on Sunday, he will be honored for his years with the program.
