Special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law and businessman Jared Kushner arrived in Israel on Monday morning to bolster the ceasefire agreement and to continue implementation of the second phase of Trump's 20-point Gaza plan.

Vice President JD Vance, who was on the second day of a visit to Israel, said recent trips to the country by top American officials were intended to shore up the fragile Gaza truce.

Special Envoy Kushner stated that Israel and Hamas are transitioning to a peacetime posture. There is a good chance the Gaza peace deal between Israel and Hamas will remain intact, US Vice President JD Vance said Tuesday.

The ceasefire was tested by renewed fighting on Sunday and accusations from both sides of ceasefire violations, but both Israel and Hamas have said they are committed to the deal.View on euronews

Israel is de-registering major nongovernmental aid groups from helping people in the Palestinian territories, according to several officials with humanitarian organizations.

None of this means the ceasefire is about to collapse. Even though there will no doubt be further violations, for now a mix of self-interest and American pressure should ensure that Israel and Hamas remain party to the deal.
