A tense moment unfolded Friday afternoon after a rental vehicle drove through peaceful protesters gathered in front of Coast Guard Island and stopped several yards from the wall blocking vehicle access.

After a day of largely peaceful protests in the Bay Area against federal immigration forces, shots were fired Thursday evening as a lone vehicle tried to enter the bridge to Coast Guard Island.  In video from the scene posted by KTVU-TV reporter Zac Sos,

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard fired rubber bullets Friday at a car that was moving toward a barricade separating them from protesters outside Coast Guard Island, officials confirmed.
