A tense moment unfolded Friday afternoon after a rental vehicle drove through peaceful protesters gathered in front of Coast Guard Island and stopped several yards from the wall blocking vehicle access.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard fired rubber bullets Friday at a car that was moving toward a barricade separating them from protesters outside Coast Guard Island, officials confirmed.
