"This tragedy follows a disturbing pattern of criminal illegal aliens driving commercial vehicles on American roads, directly threatening public safety," DHS said on X.

The FBI was investigating on Friday morning (October 24) what officials are calling an attempted vehicle ramming and a shooting at a U.S. Coast Guard base in the San Francisco Bay Area where U.S. Border Patrol had been deployed for possible immigration enforcement operations in California.

U.S. Coast Guard security officers opened fire Thursday night after a driver tried to back a vehicle into a Coast Guard Base in Alameda and ignored repeated orders to stop, authorities said.

“Coast Guard personnel issued multiple verbal commands to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply and proceeded to put the vehicle in reverse,” the statement said.
