Outfielder Wilyer Abreu cleared for game action, and Red Sox more optimistic he can be ready for Opening Day
JUPITER, Fla. — Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu has been cleared for game action after missing much of spring training because of a gastrointestinal issue. Abreu played in a minor league game Friday at Fenway South and is expected to be in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Braves.
The Red Sox now believe their outfielder, who won a Gold Glove last year, could be ready to open the season with them.
