With Ian Happ heading to the IL with an oblique injury, the Chicago Cubs reportedly are promoting top catching prospect Moises Ballesteros.
The bad news is that All-Star outfielder Ian Happ is heading to the injured list. The 30-year-old leadoff man has missed the Cubs' last three games with an oblique injury and will now be out awhile longer. On the plus side, Chicago is calling up one of its top prospects to replace him in the lineup.
The Cubs had four players among the Top 100 prospects in baseball, two of which have received Major League call-ups this year. Third baseman Matt Shaw was No. 33, though he is back at Triple-A Iowa to work on his swing. Pitcher Cade Horton was ranked No. 51, and he was officially placed on the roster on Saturday.
